June24 - Arrive in Costa Rica On June 14th, 2002, we are selling
our home in Miami Beach and packing all of our belongings, placing
them on a ship and sending everythng down to Costa Rica.
Soon thereafter, we arrive in Costa Rica and begin this wild adventure. The location is Punta Uva, on the Carribean coast, just south of Puerto Viejo, and just a few miles north / east of the Panama border! The town is populated with about 1000 inhabitants, 30% Jamaican, 30% Tico (Costa Rican) and 40% Europen / American foreign settlers.
We will be just on the outskirts of town, about 400 meters away and 100-150 above the ocean, on top of a small mountain overlooking the Carribean coast and enjoying the sights and sounds of exotic tropical plants, wild birds, monkeys and insects!
Maya will be going to the local school, established by the local foreigners for their children. The teachers are parents of the students, each volunteering to create a wonderful schooling environment for foreigh children. Most kids in Punta Uva speak at least 2 to 3 languages!
Check back with us regularly to keep up with the adventures.
